Running or walking is a great way to stay fit and healthy. However, during the winter or in inclement weather a lot of people do not want to be outside exercising. A convenient solution is to invest in an electric treadmill for the home.  A treadmill running machine can be used by people of all ages. Since the machine is in the home, it can be used any time of day or night, for as long as one so chooses. Working out on these machines is comparable to traditional running or walking when it comes to calorie burning and cardiovascular benefits.

Creating electric treadmill workouts can add even more to the machine’s use. When one uses the treadmill for part of their exercise programme, they can change up the routine to maximize the time they spend. You can create your own workout using general physiological knowledge or do a little bit of research to help find out. Exercise related magazines and websites normally offer suggestions, as can a trainer at a local gym. Many personal trainers offer free or reduced rate introductory sessions that you can use to create your routine, and from there you are good to go.

Many good treadmill routines use interval training. To start, you jog easily for a designated number of minutes, and then sprint for a set time. This procedure is repeated several times. The lengths of the intervals can be varied depending on your personal abilities. Mixing up the pace helps the body to burn more calories and, ultimately, fat. Another type of workout is a pyramid routine. You start at a slower pace and gradually increase in pace every few minutes. By the end of the workout you should be running very fast and will likely be very tired.

In addition, you can always adjust the speed, and incline if this is included on your model of electric treadmill to create a personalized and fun workout. For more information on treadmills and other exercise equipment, programmes and workouts see http://everythingforyourfamily.com/
