I shouldn’t have to tell you that exercise can often get monotonous and boring. When you spend an hour every day doing the same old routine, whether it be running endlessly on a treadmill or cycling through the same weight machines over and over, things can get stale pretty fast. If you want to stay motivated and keep consistent it is a good idea to mix up your work out now and again so that you don’t get bored. Not only will this set your mind at ease but it will also speed up your weight loss and muscle growth because you are making your body use different muscle groups all the time.
One of the easiest ways to inspire a workout routine is to look at popular professional team sports and see how those athletes train. The reason professional athletes got to be in the professional leagues is simply because they made it their job to know how to get in shape the best possible ways. You can learn a lot simply by watching a public practice at your local sport’s arena or by watching a few helpful tutorial videos on YouTube.
If you’re looking for inspiration but don’t have a lot of money to spend on fancy equipment or rink time you can always look to the sport of basketball. When it comes to fitness and endurance training the NBA knows what it’s doing. Basketball drills are some of the most taxing aerobic exercises out there and they will really help you to burn those calories down. If you decide to step away from the gym and onto the basketball court you only need to learn a few different basketball drills for the workout to be effective.
When you research the drills try and focus on shooting drills and dribbling drills. Make sure that you find ones that keep you sprinting back and forth along the court and try to work on your jump shots. An hour of intense basketball drills will serve you better than an hour on the treadmill if you work it properly.
