If the weather does not allow for year-round outdoor exercising, or your montly budget does not allow for a gym membership, consider buying an electric treadmill for your home. Treadmills can be used to either walk or run on. A sturdier model is necessary if it will be used for running. Expect to pay at least $500 for a good quality treadmill. Depending on the features required, the price can go as high as $4,000. Features are more about personal preferences. Some popular features are: displays that show the number of calories burned, that measure your heart rate, that show your goal time to exercise and your current time of actual exercise. There are displays that also show some preset exercise routines to choose from and a track that changes incline during the exercise routine.

When shopping for a treadmill, look carefully at the warranty. A lifetime warranty on the motor is important. The home service warranty should be for a minimum of at least two years. Even if you have never been on a treadmill, it is important to stand on it, and try it when it is in motion. Be sure to ask a salesperson for assistance. They will help you safely start and stop your test of the machine. While you may actually purchase a treadmill from a big box store such as Wal-Mart or Target, you may not be able to test a treadmill at those stores. Stores such as Sports Authority, Second Wind, and Play It Again Sports have trained staff to assist you and advise you on features. Before buying, also consider which room in your house will be used to store and use the treadmill. And make sure you have adequate electrical power to supply the machine.

Having a home treadmill is a great way to burn calories and stay healthy. Visit exercise treadmills or plus size athletic wear for more information.
